You agree to the privacy policy below, and the Privacy Policy for Substack, the technology provider.
Privacy….the Internet’s favorite oxymoron 💀 here’s how the Compass actually handles your data.
1. The Data We Collect (and Why)
Here’s what we need to know about you:
Email address: Because you subscribed to the Compass or commented.
Name: If you gave one. Real or fake, I don’t check.
Cookies: Tiny files that track your visit so we know you were here. Think of them as the blog’s memory.
2. What The Compass Does With Your Info
Sends you newsletters.
Moderates comments, because bots don’t need freedom of speech.
Analyzes traffic so I know which posts you liked (and which ones you hated).
3. What The Compass Doesn’t Do With Your Info
Sell your data to the highest bidder. I’m running a blog, not an auction.
Spam your inbox. I hate that as much as you do!
4. Cookies
Cookies (not the chocolate kind) help me see who’s reading what and make the site less annoying for repeat visitors. Turn them off if you like, but don’t blame me if the site gets weird and doesn’t remember you.
5. Third-Party Fun
In a few places, I use tools like affiliate programs or Google Analytics. These companies collect data too, but we don’t have control over what happens with it past that point. If they do something shady, just let me know. I’m very open to removing them from my platform if anything happens.
6. Your Control, Your Call
Want out? You can unsubscribe, delete cookies, or contact me on Substack to erase your data. I’ll comply, but you’ll be missed!! :(
7. Security: Not Hacker-Proof, But Close
Substack takes reasonable measures to protect your data. Because the Compass is under Substack, our measures are the same. Is it Fort Knox? No. But your data is safe with us.
8. Policy Updates
I may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. If it changes dramatically, you’ll be notified. If it doesn’t, just assume the latest version is still relevant.
If you have any questions, comments, or objections, feel free to shoot me a message!
