Introductio: Latin for “introduction”.

Hey y’all!

First things first: I figured I should start with a short introduction. My name is Carson Wagner. I’m a California native (from which I renounce all affiliation), a junior at Logos Online School, & a podcaster and student pilot with a smorgasbord of other random hobbies and interests. I’ve moved around the US a fair amount; I’ve lived in Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Iowa, Colorado….the list goes on. But I was born here in Cali, and currently live just north of Chico.

I have three siblings (2 brothers & 1 sister). I’m also the oldest (16 years old), which basically just means I’m the first one to get in trouble when something goes wrong 😬🤣.
I’m a Christian—Reformed, to be exact. I believe Jesus Christ is Lord and King of all, the Savior of the world, and the only way to God. Scripture says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), and that’s the absolute truth—we’re broken, lost in our rebellion, completely unable to save ourselves. But God sent His Son, Jesus, to live the perfect life we couldn’t, die an excruciating death on the cross to atone for our sins, and rise again to conquer death.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).

I’m also intensely patriotic and very interested in politics & government. Which means at some point, you’re bound to hear my political views announced very clearly and very loudly….sooner or later. I’m not apologizing, either :)

I’ve been at Logos Online School for almost two years now. I really enjoy the classical education and making friends….albeit online ones. My favorite subject is probably Latin. I’m in my second year and enjoying every second of it, especially when I get the chance to debate someone on why Latin is the best language. Before that, I’ve been homeschooled my whole life.

So, why start a blog? This definitely isn’t my first venture with creating content. I’ve had multiple podcasts, YouTube channels, and I’ve tried to start a blog before. My previous blogs have never been all that successful….and honestly none of them really just felt like they were what I wanted. But for whatever reason, I decided that I want to try blogging again. We’ll see how it turns out……

The Compass is where I’ll unpack the chaos of the world—Christian faith, freedom, culture, and maybe a few plane stories (did I mention I’m an aviation buff?). I’ll drop posts that challenge you to think, laugh, and maybe argue back. Politics? You’ll hear my honest takes. Christianity? It’s my worldview lens. Culture? I’m calling it like I see it. Plus, some fiction when the mood strikes.
