If you pay any attention to the news, you probably just saw that our sitting President, Joe Biden, pardoned his son, Hunter Biden.
Hunter was charged recently with three felony charges and six misdemeanors. He pled guilty to all of them. To the best of our knowledge, he failed to pay over $1.4 million in taxes and has purposely evaded taxes for the last four years. Additionally, he was also convicted earlier this year on three different federal gun charges, including buying & owning firearms while being a drug user, and lying on legal forms under penalty of perjury.
He could face up to over 30 years in prison for all this. He did quite a bit, and abused his status as the son of the sitting President of the United States to try to get away with everything.
Well, it worked.
It worked because while Hunter Biden is corrupt, his father is even more corrupt. And so today, Joe Biden joined the rather short list of Presidents in American history who have pardoned a family member.
Is that even ethical?
The answer, not surprisingly, is no. A sitting President obviously has a very strong conflict of interest to pardon his friends, family, anyone he cared about, or anyone who could benefit him. So this pardoning power brings with it the possibility of intense abuse. I’m not saying the President shouldn’t have it…..just maybe don’t let the wrong man get elected. Because that would be the end of justice in the United States.
Even past the conflict of interest, do you have any idea what would happen if Biden was able to pardon all of his family members and associates, without any backlash from the public? The Democrat party would literally turn into the Mafia. They could do whatever they wanted, and no one could prosecute them for anything.
That’s scary. Really scary. Luckily, Biden doesn’t have the time or the backbone to do all that. But it still gives you an idea of how big of a turning point this is—Hunter was offered a full & unconditional pardon. He didn’t even get a slap on the wrist. He just got handed a free pass. Hunter was convicted on at least nine charges, and his sentencing would have been this month.
The federal court had already found him guilty. A jury.
But now a serious criminal is going free. Simply because his father is the President of the United States. See how corrupt and unjust this is? It’s a complete and total betrayal of the oath Biden took to protect and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States.
Anyone else glad we only have a month more of this bumbling clown show? Comment below and subscribe if you are :)
Very well-written Carson! :D
